The PC Translator program serves as a support to text translations into Czech and from Czech to foreign languages. It is an indispensable tool for translations of websites, e-mails, faxes, letters, instructions, help, etc. It contains: bi-directional text translator, www-translator, text translator in MS Word, Outlook...  and a  multidisciplinary dictionary  with pronunciation by native speakers. Dictionary databases contained in this program are among the largest ones in the Czech market. The program may be installed in PCs with Windows 8, 7, Vista and XP. PC Translator can be installed optionally with Czech, English or German menu and help files.  Dictionary databases of the PC Translator program are also utilized in mobile phones Telefónica O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone using the SMS messages and in iPhone, iPad and Android mobile phones and tablets (iphone, Android). In an independent comparative test of the Czech daily paper MF Dnes, PC Translator achieved the award "Tip of the test", the Slovak version of the program got the award Editor’s Tip in PC Revue, and the award "Test winner". The last Czech review of PC Translator was published in the magazine "How to use a PC", and the last Slovak review in the magazine "PC Space".

• Text translator

The text you type in the translator or send in via box (e.g. from an arbitrary text editor, www browser, or program for e-mail administration) may be translated fully automatically, or in sentences with the option of selection of other meanings in the central window. The translation is translated automatically in the lower window. The resulting translation may then be directly printed out, or further processed in any other editor. The new version is completed with the spelling corrector (spellchecker) for Czech and all supplied foreign languages.

Apart from fully automatic translation, PC Translator also provides interactive translation. It also directly displays other translation options, and enables active participation in the translation. Just click in the central window to select other meanings that best fit the given situation or text characteristic, using the mouse change the word order, etc. The sophisticated functional properties of the translator and dictionary, and  the singular volume of both general and special vocabulary make the PC Translator program the best tool for text translation support even for users with minimum language knowledge. 
 

• Website translator

The website translator performs quick automatic translation of websites. The translated page is displayed in Czech, fully preserving its graphic design. For general work with the Internet, at the moment you decide to translate the website displayed by the browser, just click the key "Translate". The open website is then displayed as translated in the window of your browser. The program works with the browsers MS Internet Explorer and  Firefox.

The website translator further contains the practical function "Translate the selected text". Therefore you do not always need to translate the whole page, but only the page segment you select with your mouse. The window with the translated text may be switched to a mode where either the translation or the sentence analysis is displayed.
 

• Translator in the programs MS Word, Outlook and Thunderbird

The PC Translator also enables utilization of the translation icons in the programs MS Word, MS Outlook, and Outlook Express
(also in Thunderbird mail clients, after the installation of update). Using these tools it is possible to translate the selected text blocks, and to open the dictionary directly in the applications. The translation window displays either the translation directly, or the text analysis. The analysis may also offer selection from other possible meanings. In MS Word editor, it is possible to replace a selected text segment with a translation directly, with just a mouse click.

• Dictionary - bi-directional, multidisciplinary

The dictionary is maximally clear and understandable. It provides easy searching, amending, and editing of vocabulary. The dictionary database is the most important part of the program. It is common for all four programs and thus it is possible, e.g. by amending the dictionary with new words or expressions, to influence the text translation. Contrary to certain other electronic dictionaries, the vocabulary is meaning-classified in both directions (both from and into the foreign language), and with this order of meanings (translations) of each word in the dictionary it is also easily possible to make user changes (e.g. ano=yes, other, less important meanings follow). The filled-in meaning may thus be shifted before the meaning that is already in the dictionary, if the user considers it as "more important". 
The dictionary is characterized by a great number of extra functions, speed, and stability. The dictionary driver may be started independently of the translator(by its own start-up icon). The dictionary may also be multi-started and thus work with more languages or translation directions (from and into Czech) at a time.
Besides the synthetic pronunciation option, the dictionary also contains pronunciation spoken by native speakers, and also written pronunciation in English. An integral part is also the database of usage examples of the most frequent words and expressions in sentences, forms of irregular verbs, information for verb conjugation, declension, noun articles, etc. 
Another important part of the program is the Vocabulary Manager program. This program provides easy backup of dictionaries, export and import of vocabulary from and to the text file, exporting added words, work with multiple dictionary databases in various directories, elimination of duplicities, permission or restriction of editing, etc.

• Lucidity - one meaning, one line. Improves orientation and boosts selection from the whole synonymic series. 
• Option of translation’s classification according to individual needs and language development (difference in meaning) so that the most probable translations of a word are given in the first place.
• Option for easy adding of new words. Anything you add or amend in the dictionary is immediately shown also in the text translator and in the website translator (the programs utilize the same dictionary database). Still it is possible to work simultaneously with all programs!
• Searches words and word segments inside the subject words
• Searches words given in various forms - contains lemmatiser.
• Searches words with similar meaning
• Articles for German, French, and Italian
• Words with the new German spelling
• The function More about the word - finds all verb forms for an irregular verb in English. In German it searches information for verb conjugation, declension, and noun articles.
• Usage examples of the most frequent words are detected in the database of sample translated sentences.
• Individual settings of the dictionary size and font type size - thus also the number of lines displayed at a time on the same screen.
• General and special vocabulary - the special vocabulary includes more than twenty branches (computers, technical, electrotechnical, medical, military, chemical, law, engineering, etc.). Unlike most dictionaries, PC Translator has its special and general vocabulary set in one standardly supplied database. Apart from the fact that the user is not forced to purchase other dictionaries, great duplicities are eliminated that might otherwise occur in the case of words being part of both the general and several special dictionaries. The actual extent of PC Translator is thus often greater than of dictionaries supplied in individual professions. As the PC Translator has been used for more than 15 years for text translations, it also contains a great number of grammar and phraseological expressions that are not included in other dictionaries.
• Colour coding of branches - special vocabulary may be colour-differentiated.
• Vocabulary by native speakers for English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Russian. The English dictionary also contains written pronunciation, which is displayed directly on the dictionary status line with irregular verb indication.
• History of searching displays previously searched words in each language and translation direction.
• Its own integrated keyboard support automatically switches between the Czech and foreign (Russian, German...) keyboard pursuant to the side you are currently working on. The program also enables setting automatic switching of Windows system keyboards.
• Minimum requirements for free space on the disc ensured by a highly efficient format of storage developed especially for language dictionaries.
• Support of dictionary database sharing in nets saves free space of each user’s discs. The dictionary may thus be simultaneously completed and edited by more users (if the editing is not prohibited by access rights or by a due selection in the dictionary manager).

*s. c. = semantic couple (a word or phrase and its translation). Contrary to some other electronic dictionaries, the number describes unique semantic couples (without any duplicities) and not the simple aggregate of the extent of general and special dictionaries, the vocabulary of which is more or less identical. Note: The elimination of duplicities is provided by the Dictionary Manager that is also a part of the PC Translator.
